At 15, David Rodigan started DJing at school dances and youth clubs – and at 58, he doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Whether it’s collecting soundboy scalps on the clash circuit, juggling dubplates other selectors would sell their grandmas for, or edutaining entire generations of dancehall revellers worldwide with his legendary sets and speeches, the “Gentleman Rudeboy” is a true reggae rocker for life. Even when he started studying economics and drama, and went on to pursue a serious acting career in the ‘70s, Roddy always kept his passion for music alive as a record salesman and of course DJ. And when he finally obtained a resident slot on Capitol Radio in 1979, the fiyah was fully ignited: In the past 30 years, Rodigan has grown to become a true legend in the reggae world, a respected father figure for many an aspiring soundboy, and a dreaded dominator in countless dubplate battles. He only recently won the renowned RIDDIM Soundclash, compiled a roots ‘n’ culture compilation for BBE Records, voiced an album intro for dubstep producer Caspa, and still hosts a Monday night slot on Kiss FM, while constantly touring the globe without even a suggestion of fatigue. To sing it in the words of legendary roots balladeer Horace Andy: Don’t think about Rodigan, he’s alright.

Vegetatia a renascut, zilele devin din ce in ce mai lungi si ne atrag din nou catre pustiu, catre codru si dealuri pe care le vom imparti pentru al doilea an la rand. Dupa o iarna grea, evenimentul cultural “Reggae pon Di Hills” revine cu forte noi, cu ambitii noi si cu inca mai multe vibratii si mesaje pozitive de impartit in acelasi loc, la 25 de kilometri de Brasov, pe Valea Teliului in datele de 6, 7 si 8 august 2010. Conceptul ramane neschimbat: intrare libera, good tunes, consciousness and respect for the Mother Earth.

In acest an, ni s-a alaturat asociatia franceza cu scop non lucrativ “Culture International” implicata in mai multe proiecte de dezvoltare si de sustinere a diferitelor culturi si in mod principal a celei jamaicane. Aceasta ne aduce pe plaiurile mioritice un sound system fresh de pe scena pariziana: Quality Time (FR) care obisnuieste sa strabata cultura reggae de la inceputuri pana la epoca noastra la fiecare petrecere. De asemenea, intregul crew de la Kaya Sound (RO) va fi prezent si va imbina genurile roots si dub inna original sound system style. Al treilea sound confirmat este colectivul East Roots International, caracterizat de stilul propriu a fiecaruia dintre componenti sound-ului care mixeaza toate stilurile de muzica cu influenta jamaicana.

Alte vibrati pozitive vor fi impartite de catre Dorian, Rastahfairy si Us alaturi de Phlo Da Shaolin, de Dani si de I-Sheba pentru un week-end cat mai reusit!
